What firmness is right for me?

We offer our latex mattresses in three different densities: soft, medium, and firm.

This is simply to offer our customers a little extra flexibility, as some people prefer a slightly harder feel for their mattresses than others. The conventional wisdom says that firmer mattresses are always better, but that’s not necessarily the case, so we would advise you to investigate your options and compare a few different mattresses in order to get a better idea of what suits you best.

Although this is a personal preference, we recommend choosing firmness based on the weight of the sleeper, sleeping positions, and the bed base used.

Soft mattresses are suitable for children and very light people weighing up to 9 st / 57kg and who enjoy sinking into the bed. Medium mattresses are suitable for people with body weights up to 14st / 90kg. Heavier people, with a weight greater than 14st / 90kg, should generally opt for a firmer mattress, as they will tend to just sink into a medium-density one and thus not have their spines supported in the right way.

Side sleepers prefer medium mattresses as they enable the shoulders and hips to sink deeper. Front and back sleepers find firmer mattresses more comfortable as they keep the back and spine in the correct position during sleep.

The bed base is very important; the same mattress will feel firmer on a solid top divan and softer on a sprung slatted base, for example.
